Art trade with works by well-known Carinthian artists

Galerie Magnet from Völkermarkt specialises in the artists of Classical Modernism in Carinthia. In addition to the big names such as Herbert Boeckl and Werner Berg, these are primarily the artists from the Nötscher Kreis (Anton Kolig, Franz Wiegele and Sebastian Isepp, along with their students Anton Mahringer and Gerhart Frankl) and important individualists such as Ludwig Heinrich Jungnickel, Arnold Clementschitsch or Jean Egger.

In recent years, the Carinthian classics of the second half of the 20th century have also been added: Hans Bischoffshausen, Kiki Kogelnik, Hans Staudacher, Giselbert Hoke, Bruno Gironcoli and others.

In addition to the exhibitions in the three rooms in Völkermarkt, Klagenfurt and Vienna, the art fairs „ArtVienna“at the Leopoldmuseum in Vienna, „ART&ANTIQUE“ in vienna’s Hofburg, „Kunstsalon Perchtoldsdorf“ in Perchtoldsdorf near Vienna and „ArtAustria“ at the Palais Liechtenstein, Vienna, are regularly participated.

Dedicated to Carinthian art

The well-known Carinthian gallery owner Prof. h. c. Wilfried Magnet has been devoting himself for decades to the trade in works by Carinthian artists. He also likes to collect and trade works of art by artists who have spent some time in Carinthia. For Magnet, these are also „almost Carinthians“ and therefore you can also find works by well-known painters like Zoran Music in his galerie Magnet.

Works by Werner Berg, Maria Lassnig, Zoran Music and many other artists available in the gallery

As you can see from the artist directory here on the website, we deal with exhibits of the most famous Carinthian artists.

If we don’t have a work in stock from an artist, gallery owner Wilfried Magnet is happy to try to get appropriate works. Just ask!

In recent decades, Galerist Magnet has built up a large national and international network of collectors and suppliers.

Magnet likes to emphasize that the works of Carinthian artists are also in international demand. We receive worldwide enquiries and are always pleased about this great interest in our artists.

If you are interested, we look forward to hearing from you!

Gallery Magnet presents

Interesting exhibitions in Völkermarkt

In Völkermarkt,at Hauptplatz 6, the focus is called „Der Nötscher Kreis“. The focus of the exhibition is on the paintings of Sebastian Isepp, Franz Wiegele, Anton Kolig and Anton Mahringer – all new acquisitions. Particularly noteworthy is an early work by Franz Wiegele, a portrait of a girl from 1915, which until recently was still part of the Dawid Collection in Montevideo, a family that still maintained personal contacts with the artist. The special thing about this is that this is already the fourth picture of Wiegele, which the gallery owner Wilfried Magnet was able to bring back to Carinthia from South America. One of Anton Kolig’s main works, the famous male nude „Hamlet vom Dorfende“ from 1948, is also one of the attractions of the exhibition. The „Winter Landscape on the Southern Front“ (1917) by Sebastian Isepp and a delicate composition by Anton Mahringer, the painting „Hochwald“ from 1965, round off the top offer. The opening hours in Völkermarkt are Monday to Friday 10 to 13 and 14 to 18 o’clock, Saturday 10 to 12 o’clock, or by appointment (telephone 0664 100 5110).

Work of the month

Anton Mahringer, orchard with St. George's church in winter, 1951, oil on wood fibreboard, 54 x 44 cm

The youngest member of the Nötscher Circle is the painter Anton Mahringer , who shows landscape painting especially in the ouvre of the „Nötscher“ and presents a special cycle of works here.

It is his self-chosen home of the Gailtal in 1929-1930, the area around Nötsch, the lower Gailtal.
Already in these years he settled there (from Stuttgart) and founded his family.

The motif shown is the view into a wintry landscape, with a seemingly snowy orchard. The church is shown only by the indicated top.
The light in a bright yellow sun-drenched winter day, reflects a special atmosphere, completed by the blue complementary tones in the snow-covered branches.

The painting was privately owned by the painter’s eldest daughter, Monika, dedicated to „19.9.1961 von Papi“.

Now it is owned by Galerie Magnet and will be exhibited on the occasion of the art fair Art&Antique in the Residenz in Salzburg, 9 – 18 April and shown by us there and in our current catalogue.
